What
do we do in LHWL?
Our
membership is committed to volunteerism and meeting the needs
of our community.
Each active member volunteers at least four times per year at one
or more of our many service projects provided each year, returning
over
600 service hours to our neighborhood. These opportunities range
from mentoring/tutoring students in area schools to providing
lunch and
entertainment to the elderly in area nursing homes to shelving
books at the neighborhood school library.
The entire membership
also is involved in our "Holiday
in the Highlands" Home
Tour, Bazaar and Luncheon, which is held the first Friday in
December. This is our
only fundraiser, the "kickoff" to the Christmas season,
and a wonderful neighborhood event! For more information about
our Home Tour, click
on "Holiday
in the Highlands". |
Who is eligible
to become a member of LHWL?
Our
membership is open to women who live within the Lake Highlands High
School attendance boundaries as defined by the
RISD. All prospective members must be sponsored by an active member
of Lake Highlands Women's League.
